Applying Innovation at Scale
Schools, districts, teachers, administrators, non-profits, school service companies, grantmakers: we are all in the innovation business, or ought to be. We generate the new ideas and approaches that enable public education to serve students effectively in a changing world.
But innovations tend to serve small numbers of students. Applying innovation at scale in public education requires informed, effective policymaking and public investment.
Since 1997, Mass Insight has played a critical role in the development of Massachusetts education policy. Our advocacy work's effectiveness stems from the credibility gained through our extensive involvement on the ground, out in the field, and through the knowledge base generated by our effective-practice studies and other forms of research.
Our current public policy initiatives focus on effective frameworks for turnaround of under-performing schools and comprehensive state strategies for excellence in math and science education. Both of these initiatives stemmed from research (The Unfinished Agenda and World Class reports and our effective-practice research) and from our field services (Great Schools Coalition).
